XP Information
XP Falcons had the 144, 170 and 200 cubic inch engines, while the 144 continued in both High and Low Compression versions. They were equipped with 3 speed Manual
Transmissions with still no synchro in 1st gear and 2 speed or the new 3 speed Automatic Transmissions.
Engine number prefixes indicate the type of engine:
E - 144 cubic inch D - 170 cubic inch SD - 200 cubic inch
ID Plates
The XP range featured two different style ID plates, the above plate was used until 1966 when they changed to a plate that held more information, that plate ran up until early XW Falcon.
Decoding the above plate worked like this,
No 1. First letter ‘J’ stands for the country code, Australia Second letter stands for theAssembly plants:
G - Broadmeadows, K - Sydney, H - Brisbane, L - Broadmeadows Secondary Assembly Line
The 2 numbers following indicate the Body Type, these are listed below.
10 = Futura Coupe 11 = Futura Sedan 12 = Futura Taxi
21 = Falcon Sedan
22 = Falcon Taxi Or Deluxe Coupe (but not a Coupe Taxi)
23 = Falcon Sedan
30 = Falcon Wagon
31 = Falcon Wagon
32 = Squire Wagon
34 = Fairmont Sedan
35 = Fairmont Wagon
40 = Falcon Utility
41 = Falcon Deluxe Utility
Then the next two letters represented the year and month as listed below
E - 1965
J - January
U - February
M - March
P - April
B - May
R - June
A - July
G - August
C - September
K - October
D - November
E - December
F - 1966
L - January
Y - February
S - March
T - April
