XW - XY Information

XW Ford Falcon

 

1969 gave us a new look falcon with a complete over hall from the XT Model.

Yet again another V8 was added to the model range this time a 351 Windsor for 1969 and in 1970 a 351 Cleveland. The XW also featured two different GTHO models, The 351 Windsor Powered GTHO Phase 1 and the Cleveland Powered GTHO Phase 2.

Several mechanical improvements were made across all models includes vented disc brakes, 3 speed manual gearboxes with synchro in first the larger 3 speed FMX Automatic Transmissions.,

XY Information

Released in September 1970 by Ford Australia the XY Falcon is said to be the most popular ford ever released in Australia.

Again some small cosmetic changes were made mainly the grille and taillights.

The 188ci motor was discontinued but a larger more powerful 250ci was added to accompany the already popular 200ci

Another GTHO was also released in the XY Range featuring the unforgettable movie ait intake that sat through a hole in the bonnet, The GTHO Phase 3 said to be the most iconic muscle car Australia has ever seen.
